The assignment was to design 10 Sanjo Rokkaku kites for the promotion of Sanjo Rokkaku battles at Dutch kite festivals. The Sanjo’s were sponsored by the brand Mascotte Spécial. The challenge was to make kites related to the brand Mascotte Spécial without actually printing the logo on the kite.
All of the kites’ graphics are part of the Mascotte Spécial package in different color combinations. This pop art solution makes the brand recognizable for the audience, but also makes the kites colorful and every kite unique.
I believe this shows how sponsoring and kite flying can work together.
